The government provide additional funding to publicly funded schools in England to support learning.
Pupil Premium and Recovery Fund
During each academic year Westlands receive a "Pupil Premium". The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
Pupil Premium funding is available to both mainstream and non-mainstream schools, such as special schools and pupil referral units.
At Westlands there are two key areas that are identified for the use of Pupil Premium:
- To help raise literacy for the least able pupils at Westlands
- To help engage the most disaffected KS4 pupils who have a history of persistent absence
Every penny that comes in to Westlands from Pupil Premium has a direct effect on the learning and attainment of the children it is paid for. Click on the link below to download a copy of the data on how we allocate the money.
The Recovery Fund is part of the government’s package of funding to support pupils whose education has been impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19).
It is focused on Pupil Premium eligible pupils and pupils in specialist settings such as special schools, special units and pupil referral units (PRUs). This is because of the additional impact of the pandemic on these students.
