Parent, Carer and Academy Communication Policy

The Trust has launched a new policy to ensure that communication between our Academy and our parent & carers meets the expected standards.

The Trust CEO, Rebecca Whelan, has written a letter to all parents and carers of students in the Trust:

Dear Parents and Carers,

Introducing the Horizons Specialist Academy Trust Parent, Carer and Academy Communication Policy.

At Horizons Specialist Academy Trust, we believe that the strongest outcomes for children and young people are achieved when families and schools work together in a spirit of trust, respect and partnership. Our shared aim is always to support the safety, wellbeing, learning, progress and future aspirations of every child and young person.

To support this partnership, we have introduced a new Parent, Carer and Academy Communication Policy, which can be accessed here. The policy has been developed to provide clarity about how our academies and families communicate with one another, the standards we can all expect, and the ways in which we can work together positively and constructively in the best interests of children and young people.

The policy reinforces our commitment to open, respectful and effective two-way communication. It explains how parents and carers can contact academies, the routes available for different types of enquiries, expected response times, and how we will support accessible communication for all families. It also sets out the important role that parents, carers and staff each play in maintaining positive and productive relationships.

As a Trust, we are proud of the relationships we have with our families. We recognise that parents and carers are experts in their children, and that by working together we can ensure that children and young people receive the support, encouragement and opportunities they need to thrive. This policy is intended to strengthen those relationships by providing clear expectations and helping to ensure that concerns, questions and information are shared in a timely, respectful and effective way.
